Struan Peatbog

Struan Peatbog

Peat is an accumulation of partially decayed vegetation.  It is unique to natural areas called peatbogs.  Peat is cut in early spring and left to dry over the summer to be used as fuel for the winter.  A tradition spanning decades, is still undertaken every year on Skye.
